SIPU International and Jarskog Konsult are pleased to offer two International Training Programmes (ITP) in Private Sector Development: Private Sector Growth Strategies and Strategic Business Management. The programmes are funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
The programme for Strategic Business Management (SBM) is designed for business leaders from small and medium-sized businesses, who are highly motivated to develop and expand their own business in a sustainable way, as well as the economy of their country. Applicants must have the potential to act as a change agent in their business as well as at a national level.
Eligible participants are:
- CEOs or top managers of small or medium size enterprises
- Managers of a significant and distinct department at a large enterprise, with responsibility for its own profit
The programme for Private Sector Growth Strategies (PSGS) is intended for high-level professionals from national authorities, public institutions and business membership organisations. The applicants as well as their organisations must have mandate to develop and promote a sustainable private sector in their country. Applicants must have the potential to act as a change agent in their organisations as well as at a national level.
Eligible participants are representatives from:
- national governmental bodies and ministries
- authorities and semi-governmental organisations and institutions
- relevant civil society organisations, such as NGOs, business associations, chambers of commerce and community based organisations.
Which are the target countries?
There are two rounds of PSD programmes each year - the spring edition starting in February is targeting four or five African countries, the autumn edition starting in September is targeting five Eastern European countries. The 2015 round of PSD programmes will target the following African countries: Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe (application period closed)
The 2015 round of PSD programmes will target the following Eastern European countires: Albania, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova and Ukraine

Other requirements?
- The PSD programmes are held in English, and therefore professional fluency of English is a requirement to participate in the SBM or the PSGS course.
- As ITP programmes include international travel and work away from home, good health and full working capacity is required.
- Women are especially encouraged to apply.
What are the costs of participation?
Participants are required to find funding for personal expenses and their own travel arrangements to Stockholm for the training that takes place in Sweden, as well as any visa or vaccination costs. The programme covers all other costs including proramme fee and materials, full board and lodging as well as insurance during scheduled training phases. The programme also covers the travel to the Regional Follow-up Seminar. The training programme does not offer any financial support, apart from the programme itself.
